With the Hanukah holiday upon us, and the overall holiday atmosphere in general in the air, here are some copywriting and content tips to get your users in the spirit:

  1. Keep it positive - with everything going on, people

  2. Holiday theme content - yes, it sounds trite, it sounds corny, but it works. We all (most of us, anyway) watched Home Alone, experienced family holiday get-together disasters, etc.

  3. Lighter side user guide - every year you labor on a holiday shopping guide or preparation of sort. How about a 'holiday compliment guide?' (For the more advanced: 'Holiday sarcasm guide' - which should come with a toxic warning label!)

  4. Offer them value - can't go wrong with offering a discount coupon or free trial period.

  5. Invite users to share inspiring, funny, ridiculous stories.

  6. Eliminate any jargon: Be it technological, marketing, etc. Whatever you write, make it human-centric. Think it's impossible? Read this blog post again.

  7. Throw in fun facts that the reader can relate to. Like, "the first New Year's celebration dates back 4,000 years. Well, it would have been 4,005, but somebody dropped the ball."

  8. Like holiday treats - keep your holiday content short and sweet: Easy to digest, easier to remember.
